Finding Purpose in Your Daily Routines: When Divine Timing Meets Your To-Do List

Picture this: It's 6 AM, you're hunting for a matching sock while simultaneously trying to have your "quiet time" with God, and your coffee maker decides today's the day to test your faith. Sound familiar? 😅

Here's what I've learned (and yes, plenty of sock-hunting moments): God isn't just in those perfect, peaceful morning devotional times. He's right there in the beautiful mess of your everyday life – even in that moment when your coffee maker betrays you.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord..." (Colossians 3:23)

Let's be honest about your current morning routine:

  • Alarm goes off (Hello, snooze button, my old friend)

  • Rush through devotional time (while checking emails)

  • Frantically prepare for the day

  • Feel guilty about not being "spiritual enough"

Sound familiar? You're not alone. But here's the truth: God isn't waiting for your perfect routine – He's waiting to transform your current one.

Let me share three simple ways to begin seeing God in your daily routine:

Your First Five Minutes

  • Start with just one verse before checking your phone

  • A quick "good morning" to God (yes, over coffee counts!)

  • Set your heart for the day ahead

Purposeful Pauses

  • Choose one regular task to turn into a prayer moment

  • Use waiting times for quick check-ins with God

  • Look for His presence in the "interruptions"

Evening Wind-Down

  • Take a moment to notice where God showed up today

  • Release tomorrow's worries

  • End with simple gratitude

One of my coaching clients (let's call her Rachel) started with just those first five minutes. Within weeks, she noticed:

  • Less morning anxiety

  • Better focus throughout the day

  • A deeper connection with God

But here's what really changed: She stopped seeing her daily routine as something separate from her spiritual life. Everything became an opportunity to connect with God.

While these simple habits will help you start seeing God in your daily routine, I've noticed something powerful in my coaching practice: These initial steps often spark a desire for deeper transformation.

You might be wondering:

  • How do I make these changes stick?

  • What if my schedule keeps changing?

  • How do I maintain this when life gets crazy?

These are exactly the kinds of questions we explore together in my coaching practice, where we focus on moving faith forward in practical, sustainable ways.

Ready to start?

  1. Choose ONE simple habit from above

  2. Try it for just three days

  3. Write down what God shows you

  4. Notice where you'd like to grow more

While these blog tips will help you begin, true transformation comes from dedicated practice and support. In my coaching practice, we dive deeper into:

  • Building sustainable faith-based routines

  • Creating practical strategies for spiritual growth

  • Developing leadership through faith

  • Finding God's purpose in every area of life

As a thank you for reading, I'd love to share my simple guide to getting started with faith-focused routines. It's free, practical, and designed to help you take those first steps.
